Legislation

In alignment with NCPEID's mission and bylaws, the NCPEID Advocacy Committee is responsible for promoting legislation favorable for physical education for individuals with disabilities at the federal level, as well as, serve as a resource to persons at state and local levels.

IDEA 2004 requires that students with disabilities receive physical education services, specially designed if necessary. If your child has a disability and an IEP, the school must provide physical education as part of your child's special education program.

Parents, educators, advocates, and attorneys visit Wrightslaw for reliable information about special education law and advocacy for children with disabilities.
